Portia has lived all her life as a mermaid, perfecting sailor-luring and traversing currents. So it's weird when a real bad storm leaves her washed up on the shore of a solitary lighthouse. Luckily the weird (but kind) lighthouse keeper took pity and helped her. From there a beautiful friendship grew. Portia didn't even have a name (that could be pronounced by humans) until her friend gave her this one. Their bond was so strong that Portia got a potion to make herself (temporarily) human.
